A message from Pastor Barry

We are excited that the Festival is just weeks away. We will come together to see kids excel at knowing the Word of God! We will have coaches that have prepared and will want all the rules followed as the kids quiz. We will be asking all of our officials to read up on the rules and be prepared. It will make for a great Festival.

We want to thank you for reading the information letter about the Festival. It has the information that you need so the Festival can run smooth and you know what is happening. Make sure you check though that letter so you get everything done on time – all the things we need to make the festival run smooth. Just as you will want us to make sure the officials follow the rules, your following through on all these things will make for a smooth Festival.

You may not understand why we have ask you to do all that we are asking but know there is a reason for it. You just doing each of those things will help so much. I am sure most of you have said to your children when they ask why, “because I said” and oh how we love it when they then just say ok thanks that’s all I needed to know.

Thanks to all of you that booked hotels at the ones we listed. We use the comp rooms that we get from you being at those hotels for our staff. This is one way we try to keep the cost for the Festival down. That is just one of those things we ask you to do that you may not know why but when you do it helps everyone.

We look forward to seeing you June 8 in Texas.

Morning Blog sent in error!

Good evening. I apologize for the confusion caused by the earlier “Officials” blog sent out this morning. This was supposed to go to a select number of teams that have not registered both of their required officials. Instead it went to everyone.

Please disregard if you have completed your registration with two officials per team. If you have not registered your two officials please do so as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Festival Officials

Thank you for registering for the National JBQ Festival.  In preparing for the Festival, we have noticed that you have not fulfilled your obligation to provide 2 officials per team to serve for the tournament.  Please find your Festival confirmation email and click on the ‘edit registration’ link at the very top of the email.  You can make the necessary addition(s) at that time.  If your situation does not allow you to fulfill the necessary responsibilities, please respond to this email immediately.  However, if more adults than the head coach are accompanying your team, those individuals will be expected to serve as officials.  Thanks.

First Coaches Letter Sent this morning

Congratulations on being part of the 32nd annual National Junior Bible Quiz Festival. We are so excited that you’ll be joining us at Trinity Church in Cedar Hill, TX on June 8-10, 2017. It will be an awesome time for us to “Quiz On” and to crown the National Junior Bible Quiz champion for 2017. Please be praying for a great time of quizzing and fellowship, and for God to meet us in a special way.

Check with your team coordinator for a copy of the letter. Or you can see a copy by clicking on this link – 5-14-17 Coaches Letter.

Hotels for the National Festival

Good morning. Once you registered you were given a list of hotels that had provided special rates for us. Since Registration is closed, the special rates are in some cases no longer valid. If you need more hotel rooms, please read below.

There are rooms left at the Comfort Suites in Waxahachi (and the cutoff date is latee in the month).  There are rooms left at the Hilton Garden Inn in Duncanville, but the group is named “Church Assembly of God”.

Best Western Plus in Duncanville has no limit on our rooms and the rate cutoff is next Monday.  The Hampton Inn in DeSoto has passed its rate cutoff date.  The LaQuinta in Waxahachie has stopped giving us the posted rate, but there they are giving a discount to $99.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Finalizing the Competitors

Good evening. We are finalizing the teams that will be coming to the festival so stay tuned to see who will be competing at the National Festival for the top spot.

Over the next few weeks we will be sending e-mails to the registered coaches. We will also be posting the information here – on the blog.

Encourage your parents to sign up for the blog. All of the messages we send to the coaches will be included on this blog. So spread the word and get everyone signed up.

Meals at Nationals

Good evening. The host church has provided a website for ordering your meals in advance. The link is on the Festival website, and can also be reached by clicking HERE.

Please pre-order to help everything related to meals running smoothly.

Thank you.

Training for Scorekeepers

Good evening. Larry Mullins has created Scorekeep – the program we use for scoring at Nationals. Every year we make improvements to the program. This year is no exception. The changes are minor in relation to operating the program, but we encourage all scorekeepers to watch the training videos on YouTube. Click below to be taken to the site. Watch all three in the series. This will help you be successful in your role as a scorekeeper at Nationals.
